Mini Quilt Turned Pillow

I am so happy to show off this mini quilt finish that I turned into a pillow as the host of this week’s TGIFF (Thank Goodness its Finished Friday!). You can show off your finishes in the link party down below!

I designed this mini quilt because the block reminded me of spools of thread. I just loved it and thought it would look so good in a combo of florals and solids (which seem to be current fixation). However, it sat around as a mini quilt for quite a while before it finally just got finished into a pillow!

This mini quilt was made with the Blossom and Sage bundle I put together for my shop. This was to experiment and play with some Liberty Tana Lawn® fabrics paired with an Art Gallery Fabric (AGF). Instead of binding it as a wall hanging, I decided to use some additional Sage from AGF and make a simple envelope pillow.

The Art Gallery Fabric does pair well with the Liberty Tana Lawn® as it has a similar lightweight feel. And I am truly just obsessed with this sage green. They say millennial gray is turning into millennial green, and I think I fit the stereotype.

I first made this mini quilt pillow with pink – and while I love the pink – it was a bit bright for me – however, my 6-year old daughter loves it! Honestly, no matter what I make around here, it gets used between the kids, the husband or the dog, lol.

I quilted it with a very simple wavy stitch on my Janome machine. I should try to get a bit more experimental with my quilting, but I stick with the basics!

Do you like making mini quilts? How do you feel about florals? Do you like the bright pink or the sage better? I’d love to hear all about what you think below!

I think next up – I really need to make myself some curtains, but I’m not ready to do that yet!

Happy Stitching!

Tasha

PS – here is where to get the bundle I mention above if you want to make this yourself, but don’t forget to add some extra Sage if you want to use that for the back of the pillow: https://shop.tashaquilts.com/products/blossom-sage-bundle
